The Los Osos Regiment – “The Pride of Southern California!”

Through the hard work and dedication of its musicians and color guard members, the Los Osos Regiment has, even in its brief existence, built a reputation as one of the finest marching band organizations of its kind in Southern California.  The 2007 edition of the Regiment earned a special place of distinction, having taken nothing less than first place at five consecutive marching band tournaments throughout Southern California and 2nd place finalist at the Fiesta Bowl National Band Tournament, and Fiesta Bowl Parade in Phoenix, Arizona.  In addition to this honor, the 2007 Regiment secured the school’s first state title, in earning the gold-medal, 5A division placement at the 2007 Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) field show championships.   

This ensemble performs challenging musical arrangements choreographed to contemporary, drum-corps style drill movements on the field.  In addition to large brass and woodwind sections, the Regiment includes a battery-unit drumline, pit percussion section, and award-winning color guard.  Filled with a sense of pride and enthusiasm, the Regiment provides Los Osos students with a place to make music, new friends, support school spirit, and grow as individuals.  The Regiment performs at all home football games, select away games, Saturday marching band tournaments throughout Southern California, out-of-state band tournaments, as well as at local community parades and various civic functions.   

PREREQUISITE:   

An audition is required for placement into the ensemble.  Frosh wind players (brass and woodwind) in this ensemble are also required to also enroll for the 3rd period Symphonic Band or audition for Jazz Band in addition to the Regiment.  All incoming band students participate in the Regiment during their freshman year.

Tuesday:          6:45 – 7:45am & 5:00 – 9:00pm
Wednesday:    3:00 – 4:00pm (Master Classes)
Thursday:        6:45 – 7:45am
Friday:             6:45 – 8:45am
                                   
* Also select Saturdays during the fall semester. 

* Summer marching band camps (held at LOHS) are also required of all students who wish to be in the Regiment.  These take place immediately after school gets out in May, and for one solid week before school starts in August.
