The Los Osos Wind Symphony The Wind Symphony is an outstanding auditioned ensemble which rehearses and performs during the spring semester (December – May). Members of the Wind Symphony are highly select and versatile musicians who are challenged to create music at the highest artistic level. The Wind Symphony performs superb band literature suited to the group’s high level of ability and select instrumentation. Recent performances have included “superior” ratings at music festivals throughout Southern California, and top honors, including the “Adjudicator’s Award” at the 2004 and 2007 San Francisco Heritage Festivals. The highlight of the 2008 season was a Armed Forces Day patriotic performance on the flight deck of the USS Midway, in San Diego, CA. PREREQUISITE: An audition is required for placement into the Wind Symphony. Auditions take place in December. REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: (December – May) Audition information for the 2011 ensemble will be available in December 2010. WIND SYMPHONY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: WIND SYMPHONY ATTIRE FOR PERFORMANCES: Solid black, below-the-knee dress with no “spaghetti straps,” panty hose, solid black dress pumps or heels, OR solid black slacks/black skirt (below-the-knee length) with black dress shoes, panty hose, and a solid black long-sleeve blouse. GENTLEMEN: Solid black dress pants, black dress shoes, solid black socks, long-sleeve tuxedo or dress shirt, black bow tie, black cummerbund, solid black sports coat or tuxedo coat. GENERAL GUIDELINES: Please remember that a classy, uniform look is our main goal with the concert attire. |
